About 'where can you watch the walking dead season 3 online'|5 Reasons Why The Walking Dead Season 3 Premiere Kicked-Ass
Defiance the show The Syfy TV show Defiance has now gone on its season finale. Before I go on I must say that this article contains spoilers, so if you haven't watch the finale yet, go and watch it and then come back to read this article. I'm going to start by saying that I thought that the first two episodes were great and I really Love Irisa's character, she is probably my favorite in the show, but I must say that I thought that all of the Actors were great portraying their individual characters. The world the creators of the show made was great, the lore was great for both the game and the show, I loved the music, and I really love the look of the show with how it was filmed and directed, so why is it that I hate this show so bad? Well, it wasn't the directing, acting, or story that killed it, it was the writing. Here we go! First, I hated Kenya Rosewater and Stahma Tarr, I will tell you why. Both Kenya and Stahma had no real purpose in the show and they quickly got boring and annoying to watch. I first thought that Stahma was the ultimate manipulator, always cool headed, thinking, planning, waiting for the right moment to act. She was the silent dagger that stabbed you in the back while her husband was the noisy gun that shot you in the face. But as the show went on, she became weak and insecure and the show made it look like she wasn't sure of her actions or who she was as a person. I thought Stahma was going to have some grand plan to use Kenya as an ace up her sleeve to hold over Mayor Amanda Rosewater's head to win the election, but that didn't happen. The way Stahma had planned for her husband to get into office, and how she had the foresight to see that Alak marrying Christie would lead to their own family earning the mines to gain more power made sense to her personality at the time. However, it took a turn and stahma instead started having an affair with Kenya; that whole story arc felt really weird and awkward to me. By the time the show finished its season I realized that the only purpose Kenya and Stahma served was to take their clothes off and look pretty on screen. I am a guy and after awhile even I didn't find that interesting anymore because bigger and more important things were happening elsewhere. Datak Tarr was also annoying, but at least he had a story arc at the end that had a real purpose; he became the new Mayor of Defiance. I can see how his storyline can keep growing and becoming a lot more important for season two (at least I hope so), so for now I will not say more because he might have a bigger role in the future. The story of the city of Defiance was also a bit boring and felt flat. The first thing I ever saw when Defiance was first announced was the video game trailers, the live action game trailer, and a lot of the closed beta gameplay footage, so naturally I thought the show was going to be like the live action video game trailer- but that wasn't what we got. We just got another sci-fi murder mystery procedural cop show. I wanted bandits and Mad Max style action, not another Miss Marple murder mystery with aliens. The episode I hated the most was the Astronaut episode, because it literally ripped off of Terminator Salvation's storyline with the robot man (or alien in this case?) disguised as a human to infiltrate the humans. The only thing that made this storyline worse in Defiance was that he decided to take on the real man's life and go spend the rest of his days with his 80 year old wife instead of fighting to save humanity. I wonder if his wife questioned why he hadn't aged a day since he left? Nolan's character also seemed to change. The Nolan from the first episode and the start of the game disappeared and became something else mid season. What happened to the gambling, womanizing, thieving, alcoholic type of guy we first saw? That was the character I wanted to see more of, instead we just got another cop solving murder show. I'm not sure how long Nolan and Irisa were in Defiance, but his character "growth" seemed to have happen a bit too fast in my opinion. I am sure they wanted to show us character development and how the town changed him, but he seemed to go from Badlands bandit Ark hunter that robs the player of their loot in the game, to an upstanding Law keeper in about three weeks time. You can take the Ark hunter out of the Badlands, but you can't take the Badlands out of the Ark hunter. You know what I mean. The last two episodes weren't bad and I admit I enjoyed watching them, but I am hoping that the second season will be a lot more like the video game and be a mix of Mad Max meets Earth's final conflict. I want more aliens, I want more apocalyptic waste land, and I want more bandits- and not friendly bandits that trade with the town; I want the evil, most vile bandits known to the Badlands to show up. In fact, show us the Badlands! I like the theme of the show a lot so I will tune in for next season, but I seriously hope they make some changes to the show because the standard cop filler episodes were killing me. Defiance the Game I thought the Defiance online video game (created by Trion worlds) had a slightly better storyline in my opinion, just because it was a bit more adventurous and you saw more of the world and what it was like. You also got a lot more back-story and progressive story arcs that kept you moving forward, and you learn a lot more about what Defiance is all about and what is happening in this new world because of the Data recorders. I love driving around and adventuring and I loved doing Ark falls. Where was all of this in the show? On the first day I was only supposed to test the game for a few hours, but ended up logging about 11 hours and staying up late into the night fighting Hellbugs; it was crazy good fun. If you love MMORP games, you like third person shooters, and if you loved Borderlands, you will also enjoy playing Defiance. Although the game is not perfect I think that the basic gameplay and mechanics are enough to make it pass for a good game. Tying it all together Season two of the Defiance TV show needs to take all of the good from the game and combine it with all of the good from the TV show, and actually have the players actions "change the world" as they say. Cut out all of the bad soap opera murder mystery drama and give us more of the space alien war and Ark hunter stuff they showed us in the original Defiance live action game trailer. They showed us a dark and gritty Mad Max type of world in the trailer, but that wasn't what we got in the show. And the tie-in content that link the TV show to the game was disappointing. I thought they would have tied it together a bit better than what they did. I'm sticking by what I say when I compared the crossover content to Pokémon in my previous Defiance article. I think they need to take Defiance a bit more seriously like other TV shows on the line of The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, and like the current third season of Falling Skies. Because the writers and the actors of those shows take the story seriously, we the viewers also take it serious. The problem with Defiance is that after it ended it left me feeling a bit underwhelmed and I really didn't care. I don't even know if Kenya officially died or not, and I don't really want to know. Irisa was probably the best part about the finally, and I thought the show could have taken a bigger risk if Nolan had just stayed dead just because so many other shows have used a similar story arc in the past (like Supernatural, they always revive each other). If they were going to revive Nolan, maybe they should have left him choking and grasping for life at the end of the episode and waited for the Season two premiere to bring him back, that way we would have been left with a bigger cliff hanger for the season one finale and it would have left us in shock of not knowing his fate. I like how the finale of the TV show Arrow took a big risk and had our hero the "Hood guy" fail the city and let the second bomb go off; I really didn't see that coming. But Defiance was not only underwhelming, but also a bit predictable with its season finale. Hopefully Defiance will pull it together for season two and give us a story that is actually worth watching because I was really disappointed with how it turned out. What were your thoughts for the Finale of Defiance? What do you think about the Video game and how it ties together? Comment below and share your thoughts. |
